On the morning of October 23, the opening ceremony for the 2025 "Specialty Materials under Multi-Physical Field Modulation" Engineering Doctoral Program was held at the School of Physical Science and Technology. The ceremony was attended by leaders from the Graduate School and the School of Physical Science and Technology, faculty representatives, executives and technical experts from Western Metal Materials Co., Ltd., as well as all new students of the 2025 Engineering Doctoral Program. The ceremony was presided over by Chao Xiaorong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physical Science and Technology.

At the ceremony, Zhai Wei, Dean of the School of Physical Science and Technology, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the school. She expressed gratitude to Western Metal Materials Co., Ltd. for its long-term strong support in talent cultivation and scientific research cooperation and extended warm congratulations to the newly enrolled engineering doctoral students. She emphasized that the school has always aligned itself with major national strategic needs and global scientific frontiers. The joint establishment of the "Specialty Materials under Multi-Physical Field Modulation" Engineering Doctoral Program represents a significant initiative to promote industry-education integration and innovate talent cultivation models. In his address, Kang Yan, General Manager of Western Metal Materials Co., Ltd., highlighted the company's urgent need for high-end innovative talents and the profound significance of collaborating with the School of Physical Science and Technology at NPU. He stated that the company would fully support the program by providing high-quality practical platforms, project resources, and industry mentors, working together with the school to build an integrated "industry-academia-research-application" talent cultivation ecosystem. Wang Hui, Vice Dean of the Graduate School, and Yin Jianbo, Vice Dean of the School of Physical Science and Technology, introduced the distinctive features and requirements of the university's engineering doctoral training and the detailed management procedures for the program, respectively. Wang Weili, a researcher and faculty representative, and Yao Xiunan, a student representative, delivered speeches expressing their commitments.

Finally, key experts from Western Metal Materials Co., Ltd. delivered the inaugural thematic reports titled "Research Progress on the Application of Titanium and Titanium Alloys in Naval Vessels" and "Research on Explosive Welding of Laminated Rare Metal Composite Materials," sparking lively discussions among the faculty and students present.
