I. Program Overview

This program aims to broaden students' international perspectives, enhance their professional competence, and improve their cross-cultural communication skills through short-term academic exchange. On the campus of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, you will have the opportunity to study and discuss cutting-edge academic topics with outstanding students from around the world, while deeply experiencing Russia's cultural heritage and historical landscape.

The program is tentatively scheduled from February 2 to February 13, 2026, lasting 12 days. This program features a selected course closely related to physics majors: Additive Manufacturing and Material Properties. The course consists of four parts: 1) Foundational Knowledge (Overview of metal additive manufacturing and friction-based joining technologies; physics and mechanics of thermomechanical processes, metallurgy, and mechanical properties, etc.); 2) Advanced Learning (Physics of energy-matter interaction; friction-based processes and their impact on microstructure and properties; microstructure and advanced physical properties; steels and aluminum, nickel, and titanium alloys, etc.); 3) Experimental Demonstrations and Site Visits to Industrial Companies; 4) Russian Language and Culture Course.

During this short yet enriching period, you will have the chance to develop your own project under the guidance of experts in materials, physics, and metallurgy. Project development will include a theoretical part (schematic design and corresponding calculations) and a practical part, where students can assemble and test their own equipment.

IV. Program Fee

The course fee is 50,000 RUB per person. The course fee does not include accommodation, daily meals, or local transportation during the course period.

V. University Funding Policy

For programs in Europe, America, Oceania, and Africa: up to 10,000 RMB per student.

For programs in CIS countries: up to 8,000 RMB per student.

For programs in Asia: up to 5,000 RMB per student.

Note: Each student is eligible for funding for only one winter/summer vacation program per calendar year.
