Shaanxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Condensed Matter Structure and Properties

Shaanxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Condensed Matter Structure and Properties was established in April 2002 and officially put into operation in June 2006. According to the cutting-edge development trend of condensed matter physics and material physics and the demand for basic theory and technology for the development of new functional devices, the laboratory takes the basic research and applied basic research of condensed matter physics and new material science and technology as the main work content of the laboratory, and lays the principle foundation and technical support for the research and development of the next generation of new functional materials and devices.

The laboratory has 35 fixed staff, including 11 professors, 19 associate professors, 1 winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, 1 winner of the National Millions of Talents Project, 1 selected by the National "Young Thousand Talents" Program, 3 outstanding talents in the new century of the Ministry of Education, 1 famous teacher in Shaanxi Province, and 2 science and technology rising stars in Shaanxi Province. A high-level condensed matter physics science research and talent training team with young scientists as the backbone has been established, which has played a positive role in promoting the status of condensed matter physics and contributed to the scientific and technological progress, economic development and high-level talent training in Shaanxi Province.

The laboratory research room covers an area of about 2680 square meters, mainly including the physics laboratory of thin films and low-dimensional systems, the physics laboratory of flow variant physics and intelligent materials, the laboratory of condensed matter structure and properties in strong physics, the laboratory of liquid metal physics and soft matter physics, the crystal preparation laboratory of rare earth functional materials and the youth research room. There are 35 sets of experimental instruments and equipment, with a total value of about 25 million, the main instruments and equipment include magnetron sputtering and ion beam system, laser molecular beam epitaxy system, short-wavelength spectrometer, current variable meter, cryogenic measurement system, multi-function atomic force microscope, excimer laser and Zeta potential and particle size tester.

In recent years, the laboratory has always focused on the construction goal, closely followed the international academic frontier, undertaken nearly 50 national scientific research projects, 27 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, won the first prize of Shaanxi Science and Technology Award, the second prize of Shaanxi Science and Technology Award and the second prize of National Defense Science and Technology of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, a total of 3 third prizes, 2 third prizes of Shaanxi Science and Technology Award, and obtained more than 60 authorized invention patents, in Advanced Materials and Advanced Functional More than 300 SCI academic papers have been published in domestic and foreign journals such as Materials, Applied Physics Letters and Acta Physica Sinica. It has trained more than 30 doctoral students and more than 200 master's students.

The main research directions and research contents include:

1. Physics of thin films and low-dimensional systems

This direction mainly includes: the growth and preparation of functional thin film materials and artificial superstructures, the microstructure and photoelectric properties and application devices of functional thin film materials, the interaction between laser and condensed substances, the electronic structure and spin theory calculation of low-dimensional physical systems and artificial superstructures, etc.

2. Flow variants with smart material physics

This direction mainly includes: the physics research of intelligent materials, the current transformation materials and transformation mechanism, the design and preparation of intelligent microsphere structure, the nonlinear evolution behavior of complex liquids, the electromagnetic propagation principle of left-handed characterization materials, acoustic stealth materials and technologies, etc.

3. Structure and properties of condensed matter in strong physics

This direction mainly includes: the internal migration effect of materials and non-equilibrium and nonlinear effects under the action of strong physics, the physical changes of alloy melt structure under the action of overtemperature environment and electromagnetic field, the anti-agglomeration and dispersion principle of ultrafine powder under different physical fields, and the theory of rapid liquid-solid phase transition of laser melting.

4. Crystal preparation and physical properties of rare earth functional materials

This direction mainly includes: design, exploration and research of new rare earth functional crystal materials, new technology for the preparation of large-volume single crystals of rare earth functional materials, basic research on the growth process of rare earth functional crystals, and research on the physical properties and devices of rare earth functional crystals.
